William Ward Majeska

William Ward Majeska passed away October 28, 2015.
He was born on January 7, 1921 to William J. Majeska and Jane Elizabeth Ward Majeska in Essexville, Michigan, the second of seven children. He attended St. John's School and graduated in 1939. He attended Catholic Jr. College (Aquinas) in Grand Rapids, Michigan for one year. In Oct. 1940, he went to work for Ford Motor Co. building Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Engines. After Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the Army Air force Cadet Program, earning his wings and commission at Turner Field, Albany, Georgia on December 5, 1943. As Pilot of a B-17 bomber, he flew with the 388th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force, at Knetteshall, England, 30 mission, 21 of those missions as a Lead Crew. His decorations included the DFC with one cluster, the Air Medal with four clusters, the ETO Ribbon with four Battle Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal. He remained in the Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard, retiring as a Major in 1981.
After the War, he attended Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, graduating in December, 1948. He went to work for Wolverine Insurance Co. and remained in the insurance business until he retired in 1984.
While going to college, he worked as a bookkeeper at a hospital in Lansing, Michigan. It was there that he met the love of his life, Georgia Smith, from Cardston, Alberta, Canada. They were married on June 9, 1951, in Indianapolis, Indiana and celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary last June. They were sealed in the Cardston, Alberta Temple.
William was a member of the LDS church, and held many Ward and Stake positions. William is survived by his wife, Georgia; his daughter, Pam (Jim) Norton of Santaquin, Utah; his son, Brent (Brandi) Majeska of Downsville, Louisiana, 2 sisters, Betty Houghtaling and Maureen Rytlewski of Bay City, Michigan, 7 Grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Service will be held Monday, November 2, 2015 at 12:30 P.M. at the Wheeler Mortuary 211 East 200 South, Springville, Utah. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 1, 2015, from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the Wheeler Mortuary and also one hour prior to the services Monday. Interment will be at Camp Williams.
