1928 ~ 2014
William Leon Isaacson, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at the age of 85. Born April 24, 1928 on the family farm on the east bench of Provo to William and May Brown Isaacson, Leon learned many valuable lessons working alongside his dad and grandpa.
His love for the outdoors began at an early age as he explored the hills behind the farm. His favorite times were hunting or fishing with his dad and later with his own children and grandchildren. Many great family memories involve hunting or fishing trips with Leon.
Leon attended Lincoln High School where he played basketball and football. There he met his eternal sweetheart Betty (Pulham) and they were married after graduation in 1946.
Leon was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many callings in the church. One of his greatest joys was being sealed to Betty in the Manti LDS Temple. He and Betty raised their children in the Brookside subdivision in Springville where they made many lifelong friends.
Leon worked at Muir-Roberts through much of his adult life managing their fruit packing plants and made valuable friendships with the growers and employees. He retired from Muir-Roberts after 35 years and enjoyed "snowbirding" with Betty in St. George, making many great friends, and golfing with his "Over the Hill Gang."
Leon was also an accomplished trapshooter and gunsmith. He won many awards for trapshooting, including State Champion in his division for several years in a row. All his children and grandchildren cherish the guns he made for them.
Leon's greatest love was his wife and children. He is the proud dad to four children: Mel (Sherrie) of West Jordan, Ed (Marcia) of Alpine, Patty (Rick) Robinson of West Jordan, and Judy (Dale) Ainge of Orem. He loved being Grandpa Leon and attended many ballgames, dance programs and piano recitals. At the time of his passing, he had 14 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.
After the passing of his dear wife Betty in 2005, Leon married Jane Jones of Overton, Nevada, and gained three more children, Jeff (Teresa), Randall (Jane) and Ivie Ann and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Leon and Jane split their time between Springville and Overton enjoying their families and friends. Jane passed away in 2009.
Leon is survived by his children and grandchildren and also a brother, Merlin (Carol); and sisters, Carole (Blaine) Cordner and Arline (LeRoy) Watkins.
