William Levi Coates, better known as Bill, was born Apr. 26, 1922 and returned to his Father in Heaven on December 22, 2012. Bill was born in Carey, Idaho and grew up in Richfield, Idaho. He served his country in World War II as a member of the U.S. Army, fighting in the Pacific. Following the war, he married Wanda Cobeaga on March 1, 1948. The couple settled in Filer where they raised their five children.
Bill earned his living as a farmer and dairyman. He loved fishing, hunting, and went on many camping trips. He also loved to ride motorcycles. He was good to everyone he met and was known for his sense of humor, which he carried with him to his 90
th
year of life.
Bill is survived by his children: Bill Jr., Robert Lynn (Deana), Mike (Sandie), Melanie, and Merilee (Michael) and was preceded in death by his wife Wanda, son Jimmy, grandsons Brian and Chase Coates, and Julie Marie Coates.
Bill's funeral will be at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Filer First Ward meetinghouse on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, and will be preceded by a viewing at 10 a.m. Interment will be in the Filer City Cemetery.
