Wilbert Anthony Giles (Bill), age 85 passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010 from complications of Alzheimer's. He was born August 7, 1925 in Springville, Utah to James Albert and Bertha Mae Powers Giles. He married LuWana Taylor August 13, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Maryland. He was gifted in that he could build anything with wood, making many beautiful items as well as construction of large buildings and homes. In his later years he spent his summers at their home in Midway, Utah and winters in Washington City, Utah. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later day Saints, served in several ward capacities through the years.
He will be greatly missed by his survivors: Wife LuWana of Springville and three sons: Fred (Jeane) Prescott Arizona, Eric (Cynthia) Springville, Utah and David (Darlene) Provo, Utah, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; half brothers Kenneth (Zella), Max (Shirley) and Marlin (Mary). He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Ruth Diamond (Jim) and a half brother Earl (Valeen).
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 55 North Main in Springville. There will be a viewing held Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville and at the church on Monday one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
