Wendell Roberts Dangerfield, SR.

April 1, 1916 — January 10, 2012

Wendell Dangerfield passed away peacefully January 10, 2012, at the Beehive Homes of Orem, where he resided the past 18 months. He was born April 1, 1916 in Springville, UT to Robert Wallace Dangerfield and Bertha May Roberts Dangerfield.

Wendell worked hard on the family farm while growing up and maintained a beautiful garden throughout his life, sharing produce with neighbors and family. After graduating from Springville High School in 1934, he joined the Army and then the National Guard. Wendell retired from civil service at Tooele Army Depot after 24 years in various positions. He met his 4th wife, Marilyn Herrick, while carpooling to the Depot and they married 10/21/72.

Wendell lived a healthy, active and vibrant life. He showed adoration for all God's creations. His quick wit and positive philosophy of life blessed the lives of many. Wendell was passionate about family, cats, dancing, and outdoor activities. He served as president of the Maple Squares, a Sr. square dancing club. He hiked to the top of Mt. Timpanogos numerous times; the last time at age 80. He aspired to be the oldest man to make it to the top, and at age 91 he managed 3 miles up the trail.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn; son, Wendell; brothers Clarence and Fred; and sister Ethel Lucas. Wendell is survived by two step-sons Joseph (Gaye) Zezulka from Gilbert Arizona and Kenneth (Bernadette) Zezulka of Houston Texas; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and many close friends.

We express deep appreciation to Wendell's nieces, Diane Larsen and RaDene Smith, the staff at Beehive Homes of Orem, and Hospice of Utah for their devoted care.

Family and friends are invited to join us for a celebration of Wendell's life on Saturday, January 14, at 1 p.m. for the viewing and 2 p.m. for the services at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville.
