Virginia Ann Scovil Harder

March 21, 1932 — November 30, 2009

Our Mom, Grandma, and Great- Grandma, and friend, Virginia Ann Scovil Harder, 77, left us suddenly on Nov. 30, 2009.



She was born Mar. 21, 1932 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. She was the daughter and only child of Anna and Bud Scovil, the oldest grandchild of Bert and Caroline Wright. Virginia attended elementary and graduated from high school in Mt. Pleasant. She was very active in FHA, winning the Make it with Wool contest for Sanpete District. She married Boyd Parry Harder on Aug.26, 1950 and was later sealed in the Manti LDS temple on Sept 27, 1951. They were stationed in Fort Hood Texas, Fort Sill Oklahoma and Fort Lewis Washington during their marriage. Dad passed away January 9, 2004. They had been married for 53 years.



She is survived by four children; Stephen Harder (Cathy)of Lehi, Utah, Carolyn Knam (Henry) of Boise, Idaho; Boyd Harder (Jayne)of Mapleton, Utah; Natalie Davis (Calvin) of Colville, Washington. She also has 13 wonderful grandchildren, and 12 adorable great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Glen Harder of Layton, Utah. Also, her cat Mikey.



Virginia enjoyed sewing. She would design and make wedding dresses and prom dresses, including the wedding dresses both daughters wore. She also made most of the blessing dresses that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren wore. She was an avid reader and belonged to a local book club. She also belonged to the DUP, serving as President for many years. She was an active member of the LDS church, serving as the baptism coordinator for many years. She enjoyed her many longtime friends and the time they spent together.



A viewing will be held on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Wheeler Mortuary, 82 West 400 North Mapleton, Utah, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at 11:00 am at the White Church on Main and Maple in Mapleton Utah. Interment will be in the Mt. Pleasant city cemetery beside her beloved husband.
