Vickie Jean Myers Mowrey passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011, from Kidney failure.
She was born on November 29, 1946 in Denver Colorado, to Homer LeRoy and Mable Erekson Myers. She grew up in Alamogordo, New Mexico, and then attended BYU, majoring in mathematics, where she met Daniel Mowrey. They were married on April 4th, 1968 in the Manti Temple.
Vickie's life was devoted to her family. She worked for several years to put her husband through school, and then ran his self publishing business. One of her greatest achievements was the homeschooling of her 6 children for 15 years. In a life filled with illness, Vickie was at her most healthy and vibrant during her child rearing years. She lost herself in sacrifice and service, providing her children many opportunities for learning and development, imbuing them with the confidence that they could learn and do whatever they wanted in life.
Vickie loved dancing, playing the piano, crocheting and reading. She spent years researching nutrition and medicine which helped both herself and her children through many acute and chronic illnesses. More recently her interests turned to history and politics.
Vickie fought the good fight, living a life of faith, courageously giving her will to the Lord in all that He asked of her.
Vickie is survived by her husband, Daniel, and her 6 children and 19 grandchildren: Tara (Kelly) Lemons (Anne, Cory, Darian, Jaden, Ethan, Brynn, Lilli); Kregg (Jennifer) (Kaitlin, Kyler, Allissa, Rebecka, Isabelle); Korinn Scattoloni (Tanian and Galadria); Branna (Jaeyoung) Park (Lena, Ammin, Allen); Erin (Christopher) Hales (Hazel and Keller); Brokk; and her brother Larry (Janice) Woodruff. She is preceded in death by her parents.
