Springville, Utah - Our beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother returned home to our Heavenly Father, and loved ones beyond the veil on Monday, May 28, 2012, her 70th wedding anniversary with her eternal companion, Edmund H Roundy who preceded her in death. Verla was born February 3, 1923 to Alan Argent Butler and Margaret Christina Peterson in Spring Lake, Utah.
Verla has six younger brothers, three died in infancy. She was very close to her three surviving brothers, Kenneth (Ramona), Harold (Judie, deceased), and Stanley Pete (Colleen). She so enjoyed their monthly luncheons.
Verla attended school in Spring Lake and Payson, graduating from Payson High School. She met Ed at a dance in Spring Lake. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple May 28, 1942.
Verla was active in the LDS Church, serving as primary and relief society presidents and as a library and temple worker for many years. She was a sales clerk at JC Penney for many years.
Verla was mother to four children, Paula Kay who died as a child, Lynn Martin (Judy), Nina, and Ruth (KC) Johnson. She was also "Mother" to many of her grandchildren, in addition to several "foster" daughters, who found refuge in her home.
There are 15 grandchildren (two preceded her in death), and 31 great-grandchildren.
She will be sorely missed by all who love her and were cared for by her.
We wish to extend our sincere appreciation to the Staff and residents at Art City Nursing and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday June 4, 2012 at the Kolob Stake Center, 1230 South 500 East in Springville. Visitations will be held at Wheeler Mortuary from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday June 3 and from 10:00 to 10:30 prior to the funeral at the church.
