1938 ~ 2012
Verl Keith Jensen was born May 24, 1938 to Verl Jensen and Jane Bagley Jensen in Mapleton, Utah.
Growing up he worked for the Mapleton farmers as he learned to work at an early age.
Keith joined the Unites States Marines in 1962 and served until 1968, earning the rank of Sergeant.
He loved sports, both playing and watching baseball and basketball. He was a third generation Yankee fan. One of the happiest days of his life was when he walked into Yankee Stadium for the first time.
He loved being in the mountains where he could camp, fish, hunt and enjoy the beauty around him. He loved Maple Mountain and liked to hike to the top and view the valley below.
Keith attended BYU earning both a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master's of Public Administration. He worked his way through college working for his uncle and through graduate school as an auxiliary police officer for the Mapleton City Police Department. He was also an alternate on the planning commission.
He was an active member of the LDS church accepting many callings. He was a high priest.
He, like his mother, liked the wild west era and visited almost every historical site from Northfield, Minnesota to the California gold fields.
He worked for the US Postal Service for 27 years until a disability forced him to retire.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother.
He is survived by one sister, Sharon Booth, of St. Regis, Montana and five nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 10
th
at 11 a.m. in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Wheeler Mortuary.
