Vera Crookston Robbins passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2008. She was born January 19, 1916, in McGill, NV to John and Hannah Halverson Crookston. She grew up in Logan and SLC. She graduated from West High School and attended the University of Utah. She was employed by The Utah Oil Company and Fort Douglas. She later transferred to San Francisco and worked at the Precidio. After the war she returned to SLC where she met and married Thomas R. Robbins in the Salt Lake Temple, Jan. 29, 1948. They moved to Springville, UT where she then worked for the Eddington Cannery and as a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sons: John and Hal Robbins and sister, Marjorie Crookston. She is survived by her children: Raymond, Jean (Monte) Larsen and Ralph; sister, Norma Allen; many nieces, nephews and extended grand and great grandchildren.
Vera was an active member of The LDS Church where she served in many capacities. As a child she played "run sheepy run", "no bears out tonight", "there was an old woman with a hook and staff", "I have a little dog and he won't bite you", and "kick the can" with President Gordon B. Hinckley and others. She enjoyed music, played the piano and sang in German, French, Italian, Latin and English. She also enjoyed fast cars, crewel work, Bear Lake, dolls and spending time with family and the cat.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the Spring Creek South Stake Center, 350 N 400 E, Springville, UT. Friends and family may call Sunday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville or Monday one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
