Venice Pennington Beals, 90, of Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Venice was born July 4

, 1924 in Springville, Utah, to the late Harry Pennington and Melba Bate.
She graduated from Springville High School and Stevens Heneger College.
She married Paul E. Beals in the Fort Douglas wedding chapel on January 18,1945. They later solemnized their marriage in the Manti LDS Temple. Paul was a pilot in the Air Force. Paul and Venice lived in several places because of Paul's military service. After Paul's retirement they settled in Springville and opened the Westside Market on 1

South. Paul and Venice operated the store together for 13 years, after Paul's death, Venice decided to run the store for 13 additional years and then retire.
Venice was a beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother and had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren. She made sure they knew they were important and that she loved them. She had many talents and hobbies. She loved sports, especially the Utah Jazz, bowling and any team or sport her kids or grandkids played on. She was taught to crochet by her good friend, Gloria Cox, and became very skilled at that hobby. She made many doilies, hats, scarves and afghans. She enjoyed baking, gardening, sewing and crossword puzzles. She loved to spend time in the canyon with her family, barbequing and playing games.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Beals Bird (Ray) and son Joseph Paul Beals (Debbie), 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sisters Enid and JoAnn.

A graveside service, upon Venice's request, will be held at 11:00am, August 5

, 2014, at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville, Utah.
