Velma May Field Taylor, age 83 of Springville, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2009. She was born May 5, 1926 in Provo, Utah to Gilbert Hathaway Field and Celestial Ellen Kennedy. She married Lee J. Taylor April 12, 1950 in Provo, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Velma was a member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities, especially the Primary organization. Her home was always open to others. Velma enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking Christmas candy. She also loved camping, the outdoors and traveling.
She is survived by her children: Brent (Merrilyn) Taylor, Brenda (Joel) Cope, Mary Ellen "Ellie" (Gary) Rowland, Sherrie (Chris) Peterson and Carolyn (Brian) Watters; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their thanks to Hearthstone Manor, Love Hospice and Reid's Park Place for all their care and love.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 21, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 355 East Center in Springville. There will be a viewing held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the services. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
