Thomas Martin Howarth, beloved father and grandfather, passed away after a lingering illness with his son, Scott by his side on July 13, 2011.

Tom was born January 12, 1939 in Lehi, UT to Jewell and Opal Cook Howarth. He married Darlene Bosch Pieper on July 8, 1962 in Elko, Nevada. They later divorced.

Tom was always surrounded by a lot of friends and was the life of the party. He had a special gift for making friends and was loved by most people that came in contact with him. He loved to dance, watch NASCAR, take pictures with the camera he carried with him all of the time, fish and spend time with his sons and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Ruth Mays and nephew, Mike Mays.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hobble Creek Care Center, and Art City Nursing and Rehab in Springville, for their loving care and to the residents for their friendship towards Tom. And thanks to Dr. Wren and staff at the Promise Hospital in Salt Lake City for their excellent care and for helping him pass with dignity and peace. Also, a special thank you to his friend and roommate, Milan, close friend Vera, staffer and his loyal NASCAR buddy Jen and to Tyser the treat loving dog, and numerous others at the care center for their treasured friendship and kindness. And a very special thank you to Lora Fox for all that she did to make his life better, and for actually saving his life more than once when he was very ill.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 19th at 11 AM at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville, UT. Friends and family may pay their respects at a viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Larkin Sunset Garden 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT.
