Thomas Scott Catherall, 71, of Springville UT, died August 1, 2014. Thomas, loving husband of Lynette Bowers Catherall, passed away on August 1 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center following a stroke. He is survived by his wife Lynette, three children (Laurie, Virginia, and Matthew), seven grandchildren, and siblings Phillip and Victoria.

Tom was born in Long Beach, CA in 1943 and grew up in Highland Park, CA. He met Lynette as an undergraduate at Brigham Young University and they married in the Oakland Temple on June 4, 1965. After graduating from BYU in Youth Leadership he worked for the Boy Scouts of America in Los Angeles in 1965 and served the BSA for 6 years. In 1971, Tom returned to BYU to teach during which time he received his MA in Recreation Management and Ed.D. in Education. Tom worked as a professor in the Recreation Management/Youth Leadership department at BYU where he was a Department Chair and an Associate Dean of the College of Health and Human Performance. He held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including High Councilman and Bishop of the BYU 83 rd Ward. Tom retired from BYU in 2005 but he loved teaching and cherished all his students and co-workers in the department. Among his many hobbies, he had a passion for model trains and served for almost three decades as a consultant for Mé�rklin, Inc. fostering a love of hobby trains for many enthusiasts around the world. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 6 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 2557 Dalton Drive, Springville, UT. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
