Susan Eddye Woodson Arter Muir

Susan Arter Muir, age 75, of Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024. She was born 3rd child of 6 on May 5, 1949, in Altus, Oklahoma, to her loving parents Helen Payne and William “Bill” Woodson. She was preceded in death by her brother Jim and survived by sisters Mary Helen, Sarah Gale, and twin brothers Joel and John. A lifelong learner and dedicated to her passions, Susan earned her Bachelor of Science from Henderson State College in Arkansas where she met her first husband Jason “Rick” Richardson Arter. 

 Susan was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Rick Arter, and is survived by her devoted husband, Dennis Muir. Her family was one of her greatest joys. She leaves behind three children and their respective spouses: a daughter, Lisa and her husband Michael; two sons, Scott and his wife Joyce, and Erik and his wife Tina; five stepchildren, Malinda, Garth and his wife Melissa, Heather, Angela and her husband Jason, and Wayne and his wife Stefanie; twelve grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her family is spread throughout Colorado, Utah, and Idaho.

 Susan embraced life with an adventurous spirit. She loved climbing mountains anywhere she could find them, finding peace and joy in nature’s heights. Her enthusiasm for life was matched by her creativity as a professional portrait artist and her commitment to health and wellness. She enjoyed painting, yoga, and constantly sought ways to live with vibrancy and purpose. 

 Another great joy in Susan’s life was her faith. A dedicated, lifelong missionary and disciple of Jesus Christ, she actively served in The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints in various capacities. She will also be remembered for her Christ-like example, extending her heart and hands to anyone in need of love, friendship or the light of the gospel. 

An evening viewing for family and friends will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville, UT. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, Open Casket Viewing: 9:30 - 10:30 am.  Funeral Service: 11:00 am Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: 878 West Center Street, Springville UT, where friends and family will gather to celebrate her life and legacy. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her honor at the Venmo Account through the Venmo App with the name Susan Arter @SWArter_Portrait where efforts of her final portrait of the Savior with her Grandchildren may be realized. 

 Susan’s kindness, adventurous spirit, and boundless love for life and the Lord will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
