Stormie Jean Crawford was born on May 18, 2011. In the middle of the warm month of May, a surprising winter storm ushered her into this world and we were certain that "Stormie" was a fitting name.
From the first day we met her, Stormie brought light and joy into all of our lives. Everybody, especially her older brother Tate, was enthralled by her brilliant, sweet spirit. Friends and family were eager and excited to watch Stormie and she loved to play with all of her cousins. She always wore a huge grin from ear to ear and was a joy to be around. Her nickname was "Squish" because she had such sweet, big, squishy cheeks when she smiled.
Stormie grew like a weed and excelled at everything she did. She loved to look fabulous and it wasn't surprising to see her simultaneously wearing a crown, a hair bow, a dress with another skirt underneath, sparkly shoes and a bejeweled purse on her shoulder. She had a love for shoes and would probably wear twenty pairs at a time if she could figure out how.
For Halloween, Stormie was the Queen Elsa from the Disney movie "Frozen." Since then, Stormie would tell anybody that would listen that her name was "Elsa." Stormie loved ponies and her brother, Tate, taught her to love dinosaurs. She was learning how to ride her bike by herself and was excited to ride with Tate.
About a week before her passing, we kneeled down for our nightly family prayers. Jokingly we told Stormie it was her turn to say the prayers. Without any further prompting she bowed her head and said a flawless prayer from start to finish. We all stared at her in awe as she raised her head and smiled at us like nothing new had happened. We were so excited that we asked her to pray for the next three nights. This is evidence of her very special spirit. Everybody that met her, loved her, and Stormie loved everybody she met.
Stormie was granted her angel wings on November 10, 2014. "May you fly with magic wings, on clouds so soft and white, May your heart be joyful, and your days be bathed in light. And though our hearts are broken, and your life was far too short, we thank you, sweetest angel, for the happiness you brought."
