Heaven gained another fisherman on July 19, 2020. Steve VanWagenen was born in Provo Utah to parents Jess VanWagenen and Readele Swapp May 17,1947. Provo is where he spent his childhood and eventually graduated from Provo High School. He later went to tech school specializing in welding and spent most of his career working at Geneva Steel. After Geneva closed Steve got a job as a Janitor for Nebo School District and he loved it! He enjoyed all of his interactions with the kids and especially loved the days he got to work in his grand-daughters school. He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, boating, the Chicago Cubs and spoiling his grand-kids and dogs. He fought a very long battle with COPD and lung cancer, but thankfully passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side.
Steve is survived by his wife, Kaylene, his brother Ron and sister Susan and his kids Mark VanWagenen, Jammie Kelsey, Megan VanWagenen, JB Dodson, Elizabeth and Rob Reese and Emily and Peter Strack along with 10 amazing grandkids and a German Shorthair who’s not quite sure what to do with herself now that dads gone.
