Steven Layne Tanner

February 18, 1954 — July 18, 2009

Steven Layne Tanner, born Feb. 18, 1954 to Joseph Dale and Delores Tanner in Murray, Utah passed away at home from complications of diabetes after a long battle. He passed away on July 18, 2009. He was sealed to his High School Sweetheart on Aug. 11, 1972 in the Salt Lake City L.D.S. temple.

He is survived by his wife, Holly Boyer Tanner, Springville, Utah, two sons: Trent Tanner, Springville, Utah and Cameron (Krissi) Tanner, Santaquin, Utah. He also has two daughters, Darus Tanner, Spanish Fork, Utah, and Brittney Tanner, Draper, Utah. He also has nine "grand babies." Steven is also survived by his mother, Delores Tanner, American Fork, Utah; brother Joseph Alon (Karen) Tanner, Payson, Utah; two sisters: Christine (Dan) Martin, American Fork, Utah and Cyndi (Brett) Cutler Provo, Utah; two brother-in-laws, Owen (Robbi) Boyer, Springville, Utah and Bret (Toni) Boyer, Springville, Utah, and two sister-in-laws Karla (Scott) Bennion, Kennewick, Washington, and Hilary (Kelly) Bennion, Henderson, Nevada.

Steven was preceded in death by his Father, Joseph Dale Tanner; in-laws: John Carl Boyer and Ruth Hall Boyer, and a grandson that was stillborn.

Steven was a Journeyman plumber and a cement finisher. He loved horseback riding, hunting, and archery. His dream was to always be a Mountain Man, live in a log cabin deep in the depths of the mountains, and be buried next to that cabin in a home-made wooden box. The most important things to Steven are his family and his grand babies, spending every minute that he could with them. He has been bed ridden for the last couple of years and spent many hours while confined in bed watching what ever the grand babies' desires were. Steven had most, if not every one of the Sponge Bob cartoons memorized.

He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served in the Elders Quorum Presidency and as Activity Committee Chair-man, along with serving as a Primary Teacher, Sunday School Teacher and Scout Leader. He was also an Eagle Scout.

We would like to thank those who have be involved in his care including ward members, First Choice Home Care Providers, and his family friend and doctor David Tipton.
