Sterling B Fackrell, our loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend, 8 1, passed away March 25, 2010 at the Utah Valley Hospital. He was born March 4, 1929 in Murray, Utah to Redick Hoyt and Roka Bunker Fackrell.
The first seven years of his life were spent in the Hinckley and Delta area of Utah. His family then moved to Springville where he later graduated from high school.
He was a member of the Hobble Creek Seventh Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. He served a mission for the church in the Great Lakes Mission. On August 20, 1952 he married the love of his life and eternal companion Oneita Lunt in the Salt Lake Temple. He served in many church callings and enjoyed serving as a Temple Worker for 11 years. He completed his home teaching for the month of March the evening before he returned home to his Heavenly Father.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 through 1954, serving 18 months on Okinawa. He worked for 21 years as the custodian of the Grant Elementary School in Springville where he enjoyed working with and serving the children of the school. He enjoyed work and loved to serve and help others.
He loved riding his horses and had his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren riding them even before they were old enough to walk. Many of the children from the Grant School along with their parents, were treated to horse rides at Sterling and Oneita's home.
He is survived by his wife Oneita, son Micheal (Susan) Fackrell, Central Valley, daughter Valerie (Allan) Thompson, Tremonton, daughter Lynette (Roger) Dedrickson, Spanish Fork, sisters Beth (Verl) Dallin and Dorothy (Darrell) Bickmore, and brothers Keith (Jerrie) Fackrell and Elden (Colette) Fackrell, 12 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Wilma Koyle.
Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M., Monday March 29th at the Canyon Road LDS Chapel, 1965 East Canyon Road. A viewing will be held from 6 8 P.M. Sunday March 28th at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville. Another viewing will be held prior to the funeral services from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M., Monday March 29th at the Canyon Road LDS Chapel.
