Stephen Elwin Boice
1936-2012
Our beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather, Stephen Elwin Boice passed away on Sunday, July 22.
Steve was born in Los Angeles, CA to Elwin and Esther Smith Boice. He graduated from Yerington HS in Nevada. He served a mission to the Mexican Mission and then married his sweetheart, Freddie Lou Weske, in the Los Angeles Temple. He served our country in the US Army for 5 years. He then obtained a Bachelor's degree from BYU and a Master's degree from Cal Lutheran.
His work included teaching Spanish, Driver's Training, Motorcycle Safety, and Coaching. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, flying, painting, reading and BYU athletics.
He served in the LDS Church as a Missionary, Scout Leader, Bishop, Teacher, and Temple Worker. His community service included volunteering at the Los Angeles and Salt Lake Olympic games, volunteering at the BYU Legacy building, and was an active member of the Springville Kiwanis club.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Freddie Lou; his 3 children and their spouses: Jeff (Carla) Boice, Katie (Darrell) King, and Alison (Kent) Johnson, his 6 siblings: Larry, Chuck, Bob, Lenard, Virginia and Gwen; and his 10 grandchildren: Carissa, Tanner, Matt, Shelby, Jen, Zach, Spencer, Kristen, Holly, and Reagan.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 28 at the LDS Chapel, 860 E. 200 N., Springville, UT. There will be a viewing held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville and at the church on Saturday one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Historic Springville City Cemetery.
