Stanley Edwin Jensen, age 78, passed away on January 4th, 2009, in Provo, Utah surrounded by his family.
He was born August 16th, 1930 to Hans Peter Jensen and Ruby Snow in Mapleton, Utah where he lived his whole life. He married Nancy Joyce Neff in September 22, 1962, this was later solemnized in the Provo LDS Temple. He graduated Springville High School. He ran the family farm until 1962 when he went to work for Geneva Steel. During this time he was selected for the Millwright apprentice program and trained at Utah Technical College. He worked as a Journeyman Millwright before retirement from Geneva after 23 years and later worked for Mapleton City. He loved Mapleton and served on the City Council, Planning Committee, and various civic and volunteer organizations. He was one of the founding members of the Mapleton Volunteer Fire Department and served in various leadership capacities including Fire Chief during his 35 years in this organization. He served in the Armed Forces during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the LDS church where he served in many callings including High Priest Group Leader. He cherished his time spent as a Full Time Temple Worker at the Provo Temple.
He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Randy (Elizabeth) Jensen of Salt Lake City; daughters Patti (Edward) Budge of Mapleton; Lisa (Tracy) Paletta of Mapleton; son Jeff (Angela) Jensen of Springville; and 14 grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Elmo Jensen, Burt Warren, Welby Warren, and sisters Alene Warthen, Ruth Starlin, Jenna Warthen, Mable Hansen, and Evelyn Warren.
Stan loved his family and would do anything for them. He could fix or fabricate anything that his family or the neighbors needed. He was generous with his time and seemed to have infinite patience.
The family would like to thank the hospital staff of the Intensive Care Unit at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for their great care and concern.
Memorial services will be held at the Mapleton White Church, Main and Maple Street, Mapleton, at noon on Friday, January 9th. Friends are welcome to join the family Thursday, January 8th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Wheeler Mortuary in Mapleton, 82 W, 400 N., and Friday at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
