Stanley Calder Sumsion

December 2, 1931 — April 12, 2012

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Stan Sumsion passed away on April 12, 2012, due to sudden illness. He was born on December 2, 1931 to Earl B and Kathryn C Sumsion in Springville, Utah.



He graduated from Springville High School and furthered his education at BYU. He enlisted in the US Navy, and served in the Korean War. Upon returning he served an honorable mission in the East Central States mission, mostly laboring in West Virginia. He met his sweetheart, Virginia Beth Park, in Hollywood, California and they were married in the Salt Lake Temple on March 20, 1959. Together they operated the successful Sumsion Poultry Farm for 36 years. After retirement they served a mission together in Dublin, Ireland. He enjoyed traveling with family, BYU sports, and taking his 56' Chevy and 39' Ford to car shows.



He is survived by his wife, Virginia Beth Sumsion, son Hal (Leslie), daughter Becky (Mike) Beardall, son Darrin (Adrienne), daughter Andrea (Ralph) Nunn, sister Norma Horton, brother David (Lenore) Sumsion, and 15 extraordinary grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held Monday, April 16, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Springville Stake Center, 245 S. 600 E., Springville. There will be a viewing held Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville and Monday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Historic Springville City Cemetery.
