Samuel Eugene Vest, 91, died November 9, 2011, at his home surround by his family in Springville Utah. He was born on November 9, 1920, in Lynndyl, Utah to Myron and Katie Kendal Vest. He married Glenna Roper in Salt Lake City, Utah, on December 5, 1946. They had 49 years together before Glenna passed away in 1995.



He was raised in Lynndyl and attended schools there and graduated from Delta High School where he excelled in track and field. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 43 years. He served in the Navy during WORLD-WAR II. He was a member of the L.D.S. church. He lived in Springville for the past 53 years. He loved going hunting and fishing and camping and playing horseshoes with his family. His family would like to thank Dr. Leroy and staff for the care they gave Sam throughout the years. They would also like to thank A+ Hospice and staff and especially Mike Powell for his care giving during Sam's last days.



He is survived by 2 daughters and 4 sons: Cynthia Vest and Dale Morehouse both of Springville, Donald (Mert) Vest of Price, Dean (Marlene) Vest of Springville, Chester Vest of Springville, Russell (Genie) Vest of Springville; 17 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren; 2 sisters Myla Roundy of Mendon Utah and Edith Lovell of Taylorsville Utah as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenna, parents, brother, Cornell Vest, sister, Blanch Gronning, one grandchild, Christopher Vest and one great grandchild, Brooke Vest.



Graveside services will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 11 AM at the Evergreen Cemetery, 1997 South 400 East, Springville, UT. Friends and family may call Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South, Springville.
