1925~2014
Samuel Bernell McKell (88) passed away on September 1, 2014. Born September 8, 1925 in Spanish Fork, Utah, he was the son of Henry Bernell McKell and Cora Simmons. His siblings were Ruth Elizabeth Alleman, Emma Laurel Barrett, Fred Allen McKell, and Rodney David McKell, all of whom preceded him in death except Rodney David who resides in St. George, Utah.
Sam was proud of his military service in the Navy from 1943-45 in the Philippines. He worked on troop transport vessels. He loved horses, the outdoors and hard work.
Sam spent much of his working life as a heavy highway contractor. He also designed and manufactured a special tool for dozers, for sloping the sides of hills for freeways and home building. He obtained a patent and called it a "slope board."
He is remembered fondly by his children, grandchildren, extended family and friends as a man with a big smile who cheerfully pitched in to help whenever needed. He will be missed by those here but welcomed by those who have preceded him into the eternities!
Friends and family are invited to a funeral service on Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville where memory sharing will be welcome. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery with military rites.
