Family and friends would like to celebrate the life of Ruth Hall Boyer, who passed away peacefully on September 20, 2008, surrounded by loved ones - in her own home. She was born in Springville, Utah, May 4, 1927 to Owen and Pearl Hall of Springville. She married J. Carl Boyer, also of Springville, on May 1st, 1946 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.
She is survived by their five children: Karla (Scott) Bennion, Owen (Robbi) Boyer, Hilary (Kelly) Bennion, Holly (Steve) Tanner, and Bret (Toni) Boyer. She is also survived by her sister, Beth Barney, sister-in-law, Phyllis Rooney, brother-in-law, Keith Boyer; twenty-two grandchildren (and spouses); and thirty-nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sweetheart Carl, on September 11, 2004 and her parents Owen and Pearl.
Ruth lived a life of service. She was zealous and active in life - and did nothing 'half way'. She was passionate about her beliefs, and life itself - and her record of service attests to who she was. She served as a Service Missionary at the LDS Conference Center from September 2001 until 2005. She also served as a Relief Society President three different times, as well as serving in a Stake Relief Society Presidency. She worked at the MTC for years, in various capacities and loved serving there.
She was a Foster Mother for more than 400 struggling youth.
She loved holidays and celebrations and made everyone feel important. She created 'Mrs. Anna Clause' - costume and all, and made appearances at Primary Children's Hospital, the University Mall, numerous business/family gatherings and a number of unannounced gatherings - to make everyone's Christmases a little brighter. She had a love and talent for hand crafts, porcelain and ceramics. All who knew her will miss her excitement and passion for life, but we are happy for her to be reunited with Dad - who was the love of her life.
The family would like to offer appreciation to those health care providers who served our mother; particularly her family physician, Dr. Dave Tipton and to 1st Choice Home Health and Hospice.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday September 24th at 11:00 AM in the Springville Center Street Chapel, located at 355 East Center. A viewing in her honor will be held Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Wheeler Mortuary located at 211 E. 200 S. Springville, or at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be held at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
