Russell Evan Frandsen

January 28, 1919 — July 26, 2008

Russell Evan Frandsen, 89, passed away peacefully July 26, 2008 at his home in Springville, Utah. Russell was born in Redmond, Utah to Vance Edwin and Pearl Jorgenson Frandsen. He graduated from North Sevier High School, where he was active in athletics. He was a member of basketball and track teams that competed in state tournaments. In 1941 Russell graduated from Brigham Young University and married Afton Kimber. Russell and Afton have been married 67 years.



Russell was a veteran of World War II, where his service included overseas assignments in the Philippines and New Guinea. Following the war, Russell and Afton settled in Springville, Utah, and he was employed by Geneva Steel.



Russell loved the outdoors. He was an avid and skilled hunter and fisherman. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and was a devoted husband and father. He was a strong proponent for education and ensured that all of his children had the opportunity to attend and graduate from college. Most of all, he loved being with his family. Russell and Afton have 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.



Russell is survived by his wife, Afton; three children, Kay (Robert) Christensen, LaVar (Darla) Frandsen, and Grant (Carol) Frandsen; and two brothers, Richard (Louise) Frandsen, and Weston (Norma Deene) Frandsen. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Adonna Peterson; and 2 brothers, Calvin Frandsen and Sherrell Frandsen.



Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at the Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., in Springville with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Primary Children's Medical Center.
