Rowena Hutchings Rigtrup, age 95, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Art City Nursing Care in Springville, Utah. Rowena was born July 31, 1912 in Springville, Utah to Chester and Elizabeth Smith Hutchings. She was the youngest of nine children, 8 brothers and sisters. She married Reed Lewis Rigtrup August 30, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had 4 children: Brent and Patricia Rigtrup of Georgetown, TX, Mark and Verona Rigtrup of Springville, UT, Newell and Coleen Rigtrup of Midland, TX, and Susan (Rigtrup) and Cornell Nate of Rock Spring, WY. Rowena has 15 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.



She was an active member of the LDS Church. She served in many callings including Relief Society President and teacher, MIA teacher and member of the presidency, Sunday School and Primary teacher. She served as a Temple worker for 18 years at the Provo LDS Temple. She served 2 missions for the LDS Church. One with her husband Reed in the Arizona Holbrook Mission, and one following her husband's death to the Tennessee Nashville Mission.



She worked at Springville High School in the Lunch Program, Anderson's furniture store and in the Utah County Clerk's office for 18 years. Hobbies include gardening, quilting, and reading.



She was preceded in death by her husband, Reed Lewis Rigtrup, parents Chester and Elizabeth Hutchings, 8 brothers and sisters, grandson Michael Reed Rigtrup, and several nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the LDS Ward, 840 S. 400 E., Springville, UT. There will be a viewing at Wheeler Mortuary on Friday from 6:00 8:00 p.m. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, UT.
