Roman David Young, 22, Mapleton, Utah, December 10, 2012
Roman was born June 23, 1990, Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard Charles Young and Troy Marie Turville Young. After an ongoing struggle with depression, Roman left his loved ones on the morning of December 10, 2012.
Roman is passionate about art, music, poetry, literature and has a wide ranging curiosity in learning. He graduated from Springville High School as an AP Scholar with Honors while simultaneously earning an Associates Degree in General Studies from Utah Valley University. On academic scholarship at BYU he studied German, Russian, Greek and served a Spanish speaking mission to Tucson, Arizona. Despite the disability of his left arm, he enjoyed a wide variety of sports including Tennis, Hockey and Wakeboarding. He also competed in Chess, Bowling and Pickleball. He loves family vacations at Lake Powell. He loves children and is a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews.
Roman is survived by his parents, his grandparents, Gerald and Frances Turville and his six siblings, Ben (Cali) Young, Rachelle (Brandon) Gonzales, Glen (Jamie) young, Nate (Ale) Young, Austin and Christian Young and eight nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the LDS Chapel at 1316 South Main Street, Mapleton, Utah. Friends and family may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, December 14 at the church or Saturday morning, 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. also at the church. Burial will be in the Historic Springville Cemetery, 200 West 400 South, Springville, Utah directly following the funeral services.
