1918~2014
Roland F. Hansen, 96, of Mapleton passed away peacefully in his home on December 25, 2014. He was surrounded by his family, and will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him. Roland was born January 18, 1918 to Christian and Hattie Hansen of Park Valley, Utah. He was the fifth of nine children, survived by his youngest sister DeLone Terry. Roland married Rhoda Jeppson, of Brigham City, Utah on June 21, 1940 in Preston, Idaho. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Roland and Rhoda were sealed in the Provo Temple for time and all eternity on November 29, 1988. Rhoda has been his loving care giver and sweetheart for seventy five years! Together they had five children, Beverly (Paul) Dibble, Karen Thomas, Marlene (Roy) Sheppard, Kent Hansen and Debra Lyn Hansen (deceased). Roland worked in Box Elder County farming and ranching for a few years, before becoming a predator and rodent control officer for the U.S. Dept. of Interior--U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services. Roland transferred to Mapleton in the fall of 1948, where they made their home and put down roots of all kinds! Roland loved the outdoors and spent most of his life trapping, farming, working with animals, or helping friends and neighbors however he could. Later in his career, Roland accepted a supervisor's position in Price and finally retired after 33 years of service. He and Rhoda returned to their home in Mapleton where Roland focused on growing things... gardens, friendships, family, sheep, chickens, turkeys, fruit trees, and anything with leaves! Their family has grown to 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and continue to grow with one on the way. His garden was his pride and joy. Roland was proud of his grandchildren and would brag to anyone who would listen. His greatest joy was swapping stories with friends and family!
Preceded in death by Debra Lyn Hansen, daughter, Alan Argyle and Boyd Thomas, sons in-law, Chad and Jed Argyle, grandsons, Brandon Argyle, Brayden Beddoes, Austin Remund, great grandsons.
