1944~2013

The world lost a ray of sunshine when Robert Macfarlane Sebring of Springville, UT died unexpectedly on Thurs afternoon, April 11, 2013. Born on January 27, 1944, in Deming, NM to Walter & Dorothy Haight Sebring, he was the 10 th and youngest child with 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Bob graduated from Fontana High School in California in 1961 and enlisted in the Marine Corps at 17. He was a bugler and he played for many funerals daily at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery until his honorable discharge in 1965.

He married Sandra Ann Hynum on November 4, 1965, in San Diego, CA. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa AZ LDS Temple. He was a skilled GM mechanic and loved restoring classic Chevy cars and was Alan Jackson's #1 fan. However, the most important things he cherished were his love of God, family, and his country. He was an active member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, but he loved being a Home Teacher the most.

Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, stranger. He was a genuine and caring man. He was who he was with no pretense. He was always so happy and made a point to talk to everyone he came in contact with daily. His mission was to make sure that people knew they were loved and important whether they were family, friends, neighbors, or total strangers. Thank you Bob for living a life of selfless service, touching the lives and hearts of so many people, and exemplifying the mission of Jesus Christ throughout your entire life. He leaves behind quite a legacy.

He is survived by his companion of 47 years, Sandy; two very special daughters, Melanie (Dave) Yetter of Mapleton, UT & Janna (Kirk) Penrose of Springville, UT; 3 sisters- Dorothy Behunin, Lorena (Leno) Franco, & Beverly (Howard) Disque; In-laws- Ben and Janice Hynum of Grove, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Terri (Pat) Lloyd, brother-in-law Ben (Pam) Hynum III; his grandchildren, Lauren (Chase) Shields, Justin Penrose-Cox, Sammy Cooper, Bailey Penrose-Cox, Britney (Daniel) Ormond, Carlie (Tim) Soffe, Maddie Penrose, Jacque (Seth) Decker, and Brittney (Richie) Bumbernick . Also survived by great-grandchildren - Tanya, Bronson, Braidlyn, Sunnie, Asher, Garrison, and Aliza plus many cousins, nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.

A viewing will be held on Monday, April 15 th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 16 th , at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Church at 350 North 400 East in Springville. A viewing will also be held prior to the funeral service from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Interment will be held at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

The family expresses their deep appreciation to the Provo Fire and Rescue EMTs and the ER staff at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for their valiant efforts in trying to revive our beloved Bob; and to the staff of Wheeler Mortuary for their reverent way they took care of him and all their help with the arrangements.
