Richard Redd Snow, who always preferred Dick, completed his time on earth on December 5, 2024. He had recently turned 94.
Dick was born in the fall of 1930 in Bluff, Bingham Canyon, Utah, to Amy Redd and L.E. “Bud” Snow. His younger years were spent happily exploring the hills and mines around his childhood homes in both Bingham Canyon, Utah, and Battle Mountain, Nevada. These early days exploring led to a lifelong love of the outdoors, hiking, camping, and hunting, but most of all, the smell of the pines.
Following high school graduation, Dick enlisted in the Navy, serving during the Korean war. He served as an airplane hydraulic mechanic, stationed at Hickam field on the islands of Hawaii. The friendships he gained and the experiences he had were some of the highlights of his life.
Just before reporting for basic training Dick was introduced to Nola Brown whom he later married. They had four children together and Dick loved to take them on adventures camping and skiing. Dick and Nola were later divorced.
Dick was dedicated to providing for his family. The way he easily connected with people made him a natural salesman. Dick enjoyed the many customers he regularly visited throughout his large western territory for Eutectic welding. Many of them became his lifelong friends. He later purchased and ran The Industrial Torch and Regulator repair shop, located on State Street in Provo. He continued to create lasting friendships from those that would frequent his repair shop. Some of his saddest and fondest memories came from his time spent working there.
During this time, Dick met and married Dorothy Mecham. They spent much of their time together helping raise two of Dorothy’s granddaughters whom he loved. Dick and Dorothy lived throughout Utah county until they decided to settle in Springville, where he lived the remainder of his life.
He was always very grateful and thankful for the many individuals that chose to befriend and serve him, especially those that helped him return to full gospel fellowship. They will always have a special place in his heart and he spoke of them fondly until the end.
Dick is survived by his three sons, David, Mark, Dan.
Graveside services will be held Friday, December 13 at 1:00 pm in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville Utah.
In lieu of flowers, Dick preferred that you release a helium balloon in his memory which will be provided at the graveside.
