Richard LeRoy Peterson, 87, of Springville, passed away Monday, March 2, 2020. He was born January 16, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were John Herbert Peterson and LaRue Bagshaw Peterson Jarvis. He married Loya (Kay) Harding on April 18, 1957.
Richard served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He spent the majority of his career in management with the 3M Company, living in Minnesota, Kentucky, California, and Texas before retiring and returning to Utah. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and painting and participated in the Rotary Club. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities.
Richard is survived by his wife Kay Peterson, children: Denise (Shaun) McKinnon of Spanish Fork, Utah; Brent (Linda) Peterson of South Jordan, Utah, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Dennis Peterson and siblings Glade Peterson, Danny Jarvis, Garry Jarvis, and Jolene Jarvis Marshall Lefler.
A viewing for friends and family will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., with a service at 11 a.m., at The Wheeler Mortuary at 211 East 200 South in Springville. Burial will follow in the Payson City Cemetery 400 N 800 E St in Payson, with military rites by the American Legion.
