Richard Joseph Kovatch

February 13, 1925 — January 15, 2009

Richard Joseph Kovatch passed away peacefully January 15, 2009 at home, after a battle with emphysema. He was born February 13, 1925, in Conrad, Montana, to Steve Joseph and Mary Jane Stokes Kovatch. He married the love of his life, Clelia Aimee Stokes, on March 10, 1942 in Shelby, Montana. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on April 8, 1958. Together they had eight children.



Joe owned and managed Brookside Conoco /76 for 11 years. He then worked road construction for Thorns and W.W. Clyde for 18 years, operating rock crushers and heavy equipment. He retired in 1987.



Joe lived for the love of his wife, kids and grandkids, they were his whole world. He also enjoyed the friendship of his customers and people he worked with, while working construction. Joe enjoyed life itself, and all blessings the Lord bestowed upon him. He was a member of the LDS church, and served as a Stake Missionary in Spokane, Washington.



Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, 5 Children: Vickie (Dee) Reinhold; Merle Brownell, of Roy, Utah; Richard JR. (Julie), of Grantsville, Utah; Marvin (Karen), of Spanish Fork, Utah; and Mark (Stacie), of Springville, Utah; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, 1 sister, and 2 brothers all in Montana. Joe was preceded in death by 3 daughters: Terri Jean Barzee, Ronnie Jo, and Jerry Rae, 1 grandchild, 1 great-grandchild, his parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.



Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2009 at 11 a.m. in the LDS Chapel at 840 South 400 East in Springville. There will be a viewing held at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
