Richard Edwin Frandsen of the greatest generation, died October 25, 2022 at his home in Springville, Utah. Richard was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He had just celebrated his 100th birthday attended by many dear family and friends. He also was recognized in Springville as citizen of the year in 2021.
Dad was born October 7, 1922 in Redmond, Ut. He was the third youngest of 6 in his family. He enlisted in the Marine Corps at a young age and served from 1942-1945. He was in the South Pacific, Solomon Islands and like millions of men of his generation answered the call to serve. He felt it was his duty, to defend and fight for our country. Dad always said he was no HERO, he only did what millions of other young men and women felt compelled to do.
Dad met his eternal companion, Louise Shepherd, in Springville and they married in 1949. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple September 8, 1960. They purchased their forever home in Brookside in 1952 and raised 4 children there.
Dad worked for and retired from the Tooele Army Depot, a master heavy equipment mechanic. He specialized in tanks and heavy equipment. He had a love of learning and was always taking night classes to keep up with the changing times in mechanics. He worked at many additional jobs while raising his family to pay off his home and to have money in the bank. He was often seen with his head under a family member, neighbor or even a strangers car hood helping. He loved to camp, fish and hunt.
His dear wife Louise died 7 years ago. He is survived by his four children Richard Lynn (Rickie) Frandsen, Vickie (Cal) Jones, Sandra (Jay) Lamb, and William (Tami) Frandsen. He has 11 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and one more due in December. He was preceded in death by his sweetheart Louise, parents, four brothers, one sister and in laws, one grandson Josh Frandsen and one great grandson Brody Moore.
Dad’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his family and the beautiful outdoors, Pepsi, bananas, and candy of any kind.
Thank you dad, what a life you had, what a legacy you left. We will miss you beyond words.
