Rex Fay Jensen

d. March 17, 2013

1938 ~ 2013

Rex Fay Jensen, 75, of Mapleton, Utah completed his journey on this earth peacefully at home on Sunday, March 17, 2013 from cancer.

Rex was born at home in Mapleton on February 20, 1938 to Joseph Fay Jensen and Elizabeth Andersen Jensen. He grew up in the foothills surrounded by orchards and nature. He loved being outside and working hard. He was a true renaissance man who enjoyed golfing, painting, camping, playing the guitar, singing, building things, helping others, and growing one of the most amazing gardens around. Rex was one of those people who could do anything, and if he didn't know how to do it, he figured it out.

He served in The Western States Mission, for the LDS Church. He graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in Agriculture and Business Management. He held many callings in the church and the Scouting program.

On December 3, 1969, Rex married the love of his life, Patty Armstrong. They were sealed in the Provo temple. Together they raised their family in Mapleton and served their community well. Rex was a strong supporter of his children and grandchildren and could be found cheering them on at sporting events, etc.

Rex was an accomplished artist and frame maker. He won many awards for his work, but was always humble about it. He had a natural gift to see the beauty in things and bring that beauty out in his work.

Rex was beloved by many for his willingness to serve others. He could always be counted on to show up, work hard, and stay until the job was done.

He is survived by his wife Patty (Mapleton), and children Mark and Vikki Koontz (Spanish Fork), Michael (Salt Lake City), Phillip and Markell Jensen (Springville), James and Ulene Jensen (Mapleton) and Michelle Allman (Mapleton). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and sisters Joy Nielsen (Spanish Fork) and Pauline Hartvigsen (Springville), as well as numerous family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Fay and Beth, brother Kent, and sister Joene.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 22, 2013 at 11:00am in the Mapleton Stake Center chapel, 970 N 400E Mapleton, Ut 84664. Family and friends may call Thursday evening at the Stake Center from 6-8 pm and 1 hour before the services on Friday. Interment, Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
