He was born September 20, 1923 and lived most of his life in Springville. During his youth, he enjoyed participating in sports, playing football for Springville High. He received his high school diploma while serving during World War II in the U.S. Navy as an aircraft mechanic based in Maui, Hawaii. He was proud of his four years of service.

Raymond loved the outdoors; hiking, fishing, and especially hunting with his dad and brothers and later with his three sons. He followed his father's example by working in the garden and fixing and caring for his home and cars with great skill. He started working at his dad's service station and garage, took several welding courses at UTC; but spent the majority of his work career at Geneva Steel-retiring in 1984 after 34 years. He was a high priest in the L.D.S. Church living the gospel through his example of honesty, generosity, hard work, and love.
He is survived by his six children: Michael R. Dunn (Ella Bird) of Nephi; Gregory L. Dunn (Sue Beecher) of Lyman, WY; John Phillip Dunn (Dawn Wheeler) of Provo; Laura Ann Dunn Bodrero (Travis) and Karalyn Dunn Wood (Steven) of West Jordan; and Susan Dunn Chesnut (Lynn) of Provo.
