Ray Lewis Clegg

January 24, 1929 — April 23, 2009

Ray L. Clegg, 80, life long Springville resident born January 24, 1929 to Lois Randall and Lewis H. Clegg, passed away April 23, 2009 of heart failure. 3 1/2 years ago he was diagnosed with lung cancer and surprised everyone how well he handled the treatment.

Ray grew up working hard on his grandfather's farm and had an incredible love for animals, especially his dogs. In his younger years, he enjoyed prospecting and the good old days at Strawberry Reservoir. He enjoyed watching sports and was a loyal fan of the Utah Jazz. He worked for Geneva Steel, was a Car Salesman for many dealerships throughout Utah County, and sold his famous "Papa Ray's" Jerky.

Ray was a true believer in the AA program and had over 36 years sobriety. He made a difference in many people's lives and will be sadly missed.

Ray is survived by his children: Jerri Jones (Grantsville), Richard Clegg, and Jeannie (Doug) Wall (Springville); 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; brother in law Grant Richardson and nephew Steven. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Helen and Norma, and daughter Nada Maureen.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 27, 2009 at 2 p.m. in the Springville Wheeler Mortuary Chapel, 211 E. 200 S. Friends and family may also call Sunday evening from 6:00 8:00 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery 1997 S. 400 E.

The family would like to thank all his wonderful neighbors, Colleen "Smokey Bear", Norley and Elaine Hall, his doctors and caregivers, and his whole AA family for their kindness.

God, grant me the Serenity

to accept the things I

cannot change,

The Courage to change

the things I can, and the Wisdom to

know the difference.
