Randy Thomas DeRose

July 4, 1968 — June 22, 2010

Randy DeRose, beloved son of Louie and Lena DeRose, passed away June 22, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was ushered into heaven by his father, who preceded him in death.

Randy came into the world on the 4th of July, 1968. He was born with Down Syndrome. Our family remembers the day Randy was born. Mom and Dad came home from the hospital and told us God had given us an angel, who we enjoyed just short of 42 years.

Randy was the beloved brother of Gary (Susan), Susan (Wayne), Dennis (Debra), Dyan, and Karen. He was a devoted Elvis Presley fan and a great Elvis impersonator who spent hours in his back yard "swinging and singing" his favorite Elvis songs.

Randy loved to travel and visited many exciting places. The cabin at Schofield was one of his favorite places to spend time camping, fishing and hunting.

He loved being a "road dog" on a Harley Davidson's and going on burns with his brother Dennis.

He was a graduate of Oakridge School which serves students with special needs.

He loved his job at Central Utah Enterprises (CUE) and looked up to his boss, Steve Hartline, for training and support. He loved Scott Payne who has been a friend, mentor, and case manager for several years.

Randy was a devout Catholic and served for many years as Alter Boy at St. Francis Catholic Church.

Randy is survived by his mother Lena, siblings, and other related family members.

On Friday, June 25, there will be a Rosary at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E. 200 S., Springville at 5:30 p.m. followed by a viewing from 6-8 p.m. On Saturday, June 26, a Funeral and Communion Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Immediately following, the burial will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank staff at CUE, Chrysalis, and Utah Valley Hospital CCU for all their love and care.
