Raeola Kelsey Holm, a courageous and valiant daughter of God, returned home to our Heavenly Father on July 1, 2013, after a long and painful illness.
Raeola was born on April 8, 1929, in Sugarville, Utah, to Clyde Raymond and Edna Viola Bond Kelsey. She was the first of five children--Doran, Delores, Richard, and Dan--who have all preceded her in death.
She attended schools in California and Utah and graduated from high school in Roosevelt, Utah. She was introduced to her husband, John Douglas Holm, by his mother, Dora Dean Holm, while Raeola was attending BrighamYoungUniversity in Provo, Utah. They were married in Orem, Utah, on April 23, 1948, and sealed for time and eternity in the MantiLDSTemple on March 26, 1960.
She attended Utah Valley University (when it was still Trade Tech) and worked as an accountant for a local grocery store. She was later employed by the SpringvilleArt Museum for many years. Her favorite career however, was being a wife to John Douglas and a mother to her seven children.
Raeola has influenced the lives of countless children by serving for more than thirty years in the Primary. Her callings included Primary pianist, Primary teacher, a counselor in the Primary presidency, ward and stake Primary presidents, a counselor in the Relief Society, a Mutual teacher, and ward family history consultant. However, the highlight of her life was her family. She was constant and unwavering in her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was a thrifty and organized woman.
Raeola was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings, sons Steven Douglas Holm and Keven Royt Holm, and a granddaughter, Elyse Ariel Stuart Duerden.
She is survived by her daughters, Laura White (Gil), Sandy, Utah; Heather Holm, Springville, Utah; Elizabeth Stuart (Kevin), Springville, Utah; Kathryn Clark (Tom), American Fork, Utah; a son, Kyle Weston Holm (Teresa), Orem, Utah; a daughter-in-law, Annette Rawle Holm (Keven's wife), Springville, Utah; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren, including two on the way; many nieces and nephews; an aunt; sisters-in-law; and cousins.
The family would like to thank Art City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, especially Leona Haskell, Karen, Brenda, Tassy, and other wonderful people for taking care of her after her hospital stay.
The family would also like to thank Hearts for Hospice for all their help during the last week of our beloved mother and grandmother's life. Words cannot express how grateful we are for their tender loving care. We could not have made it through this difficult time without them.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 11:00 a.m., in the Kolob Seventh Ward LDS chapel at 840 South 400 East in Springville. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the same location. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
