Preston Garrett Liddiard, 92, of Springville passed away peacefully on February 15, 2012 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 3, 1919 in Provo, UT to Jon Albert & Vera Garrett Liddiard. He was the fourth of seven children. He was a man of his word. He had integrity, was hardworking, and always had honesty in dealing with his fellow man. He married Betty Miller and their marriage was later solemnized on Oct. 17th 1997 in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. They settled in Springville, UT where they raised their wonderful children.
Preston served in the Army during WWII in Nome, Alaska. He was very thankful for the opportunity he had to serve his county.
Preston worked in the grocery business most of his life. He also worked for the LDS Church. He took great pride in his work. He was involved in youth sports. He coached youth baseball. He was a life long BYU Cougars, St. Louis Cardinals, and Utah Jazz Fan.
Preston had a nickname for everyone he knew. He was always whistling. He loved to tell stories. He loved to listen to music from his youth. His life was about serving others.
Preston is survived by his four children. Laraine (David) Russell, Robert (Joey) Liddiard, Brenda (Martin) Petro, & Diane (Bonner) Gillies, twenty grandchildren, fifty-six great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, and his brother Bert Liddiard.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Betty, his parents, sisters Edith & Elva, brothers Kenneth Dick, Clayton, & Bobby and his grandson Shad Liddiard.
The family would like to thank his very special neighbor Verna Locke for all of the kindness and love that she has shown to Press over the years.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday February 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Wheeler Mortuary located 211 East 200 South Springville. A viewing will be held prior to services from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
