1926 ~ 2014
Phyllis Kaye Wiley, age 88, our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2014. Phyllis was born February 4, 1926, the youngest of 11 children, to Charles and Florence Reynolds in Springville, Utah. She lived nearly her entire life in Springville. Phyllis met Dick Wiley at Hill Air Force base where she was working during World War II. On January 1, 1945 she married Dick in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma before he was shipped overseas. They just celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. They have 3 children, 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Phyllis was able to travel with Dick to many places throughout the country where they enjoyed some great adventures. She was always a good sport about accompanying him on fishing, rock hunting, and camping trips, too. Phyllis worked many years at the Utah County Recorder's Office, SOS Drug Store and Allen's Dry Cleaners. Most importantly she was a devoted and wonderful mother. Her life was her family. She loved her brothers and sisters, children, grandchildren, her nieces and nephews, and especially the babies.
Talents were abundant in Phyllis' life. She loved making quilts, was an expert seamstress, loved knitting, crocheting, writing poetry, and working with porcelain. With no formal teaching she created beautiful oil paintings and water colors that she shared with many friends and family. She loved to plant and watch things grow-especially her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved being a visiting teacher.
Phyllis liked everyone she met, and everyone liked her. She was a very tolerant and patient person with never a harsh word for anyone and was never judgmental. Phyllis had a heart full of love, always grateful and giving. She always thought of others above herself. Phyllis exhibited uncommon courage and patience in dealing with life's challenges, especially the last few years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Phyllis is survived by husband, Dick, her sons Craig (Joyce) and Brad (Arloha), her daughter Sandra (Greg Packard), 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
