Paulette Michelle Carter Oberlander, 60, of Ogden, UT, and formerly of Phillipsburg, NJ, and Tustin, CA, passed away on May the 29th, 2012. She was fortunate to be in the loving company of her closest family. She had 60 wonderful years of life, full of many adventures with family and friends.
She was born to Pauline and Norman G. Carter, in 1951, and graduated from Springville High School (Class of 1970), before attending Stevens-Henniger Business School. Following a move to Phillipsburg, NJ, she graduated from Warren County Community College. She and her husband later retired to Ogden, UT. She was so proud of her children's achievements, living vicariously through the highlights of their life. She was a committed volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, making multiple trips to New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and was very involved in the social and charitable aspects of her churches, as well as in local Red Hat clubs in Phillipsburg, NJ, and in Ogden, UT. She also loved to travel, counting her many trips to the family cabin near Strawberry Reservoir and recent visits to Alaska as her favorite destinations.
She is survived by her mother, her husband, and her two sons Joseph G., of Lebanon, NH, and Michael, of Easton, PA, as well as her beloved dog, Tasha. She is also survived by her sisters Stephanie Carter-Nielsen and Lynnette Ferrell. She was pre-deceased by her father (2001), her brother Gary (1980), and her two beloved dogs and Utah.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 31, at 7:00 pm, at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 140 North Tyler Ave., Ogden, UT. She will be laid to rest with her father and brother at the family plot in the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville, UT, on June 1 at 3:00 pm.
The family is requesting, in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to help defray funeral costs. Memorial donations can be made at Mountain America Credit Union to the Paulette Oberlander Memorial Fund.
