Patricia Kaye (Hurren) Hubbard

October 3, 1933 — September 9, 2016

Patricia Kaye Hurren Hubbard, 82, of Springville, UT, wife of Ernest Dee Hubbard, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016. Pat was born October 3, 1933, in Salt Lake City, UT, daughter of the late Henry Reeder Hurren and the late Katherine Weiler Hurren.  She received her B.S. and M.S. from Utah State University in Logan, UT, in 1956. Her Master’s thesis on Early Cache Valley Banking received the Cache Valley Historical Award.  She then did post-graduate work in International Finance, and made several lifelong friends, while at Cambridge University in England on a Rotary Foundation Fellowship.

After returning from Cambridge and while teaching at the University of Utah, she met Dee Hubbard, who was a student in the MBA program.  They married in August 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple.  At the time of her passing, they had been married 57 years.

In 1993-1994, Pat and Dee served a full-time mission in St. Petersburg, Russia, for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Pat was a faithful worker in the Church over her lifetime, serving at various times as a teacher and in presidencies in the Relief Society, Primary, and Sunday School.  In 1992-1993, Pat and Dee did a Church Service Mission with the LDS Church Auditing Department. Pat was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Pat loved to travel with her husband and family.  Pat and Dee toured the Holy Land and Egypt, Scandinavia, Brazil and Peru (at the conclusion of Daniel’s LDS Mission), Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, and many places in Europe.  With family, Pat also visited Yellowstone and the Oregon Coast – places she loved – too many times to count.

Above all, Pat’s life centered on her family, to whom she was completely devoted.  With Dee’s help, she never missed an event that involved one of her grandchildren.  She is survived by her husband, Dee, of Springville, UT; three sons, Jeffrey Dee (Lynette) Hubbard of Saratoga Springs, UT, James Brian Hubbard, of Springville, UT, and Daniel Malin (Angela) Hubbard of Springville, UT; one daughter, Heidi Kaye Hubbard of Washington, DC; and eight grandchildren, Dax, Derrick, Aubrey, Ryan, Sarah, Isaac, Rachel, and Camille.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Weiler Reeder Hurren and Henry Richard Hurren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 11 am on Monday, September 19, in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1965 Canyon Road, Springville, UT.  The family will receive friends before the service on September 19, from 9:45 am to 10:45 am, at the same location.  Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1875 S. 400 E., Springville, UT.
