Art Reid, 91, passed away at his home in Springville, Utah on November 3, 2024. Omer Arthur Reid was born in Panguitch, Utah on December 17, 1932, to Cecil Prince and Omer Harps Reid. He had an older sister, Gwen, and was followed by three sisters, Veda, Lois and Kathy. He spent the first half of his childhood in Panguitch helping herd sheep and doing other various chores.
Their family moved to Springville, Utah where he attended Springville High School where he played basketball and football. Art fell in love with a beautiful high school cheerleader, Nina Mae Barney. He attended Snow College and played football. Nina and Art were married July 25, 1952, in the Manti Temple. They had three children. Terry (Maureen Snelson), Springville; Kim Reid, Roberts, Montana; and Wendy (Dave) Hill, Springville.
Art worked for Thorn Construction Company, Geneva Steel and Springville City Water Department. Art was known for his quick wit and sense of humor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and traveling. Art also liked golfing and playing cards with his family and many friends throughout the years.
He was an amazing husband, father and grandfather. He loved his wife, three children, five grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren dearly.
Art was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a home teacher, high priest and in several bishoprics. After retirement they served an LDS mission in St. George, Utah at the Temple Visitor Center, Pine Valley Church, Jacob Hamblin Home and the Brigham Young Home. They both enjoyed their calling to serve at the Provo City Center temple visitors center.
Art is survived by his sweet wife, Nina, and their children. He is also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, as well as his sisters Lois Frost and Kathy (Stan) Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Gwen Hartley and Veda Welch.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the Spring Creek Stake Center located at 760 N 400 E, Springville, Utah. Those not in attendance can view the service online at Art Reid Funeral Services. There will be a viewing for friends and family at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 E 200 S, Springville, Utah, Thursday, November 7, 2024 from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday just prior to the service 10-11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
