Nortica Ella Cluff Barker of Mapleton, Utah, passed away on December 20, 2018
at the age of 92.
Nortica was born on November 1, 1926 in Heber Utah to Spencer Marion and
Opal Mae Wilson Cluff. After her mother gave birth to a second child, Richard,
Opal passed away due to complication of child birth. Spencer remarried Nina
Porter who raised Nortica along with 7 additional children in Provo, Utah.
Nortica married her eternal companion, Norman Barker on July 13,1946.
They had four children, Carie (Dan) Morgan, Mary Katherine (Gordon) Bills, Michael
(Bonnie), and Gary (Melanie). They have 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and
2 great, great grandchildren.
Nortica was preceded in death by her husband Norman, a brother Marion, her
Parents; Spencer, Opal and stepmother Nina, and brother-in-law Dale Cazier.
She is survived by her children, and siblings, Richard Kirk (Joy), Nelda Cazier,
Jerry Cluff (Linda), Jack Cluff (Beverly), Seloma Porter (Lynn), Ron Cluff (Alicia),
Karla Sorensen (Lynn) and one sister-in-law, Marie West.
Nortica was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
until health issues made it difficult to serve. She was a primary teacher, served on
the Stake Primary Board, a Relief Society President, and Young Women's
President along with many other callings. She was an excellent seamstress and
made a variety of cloths for her children. Both she and her husband, Norman,
had an amazing work ethic. They always worked hard, keeping a neat and clean
home, yard and garden.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 27, at the Mapleton LDS
meeting house 31 West Maple Street at 11:00 am. There will be a viewing
Wednesday, December 26, at the Wheeler Mortuary in Mapleton, 82 West 400
North from 6:00 to 8:00 pm and one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Interment will be at the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.
