1923 ~ 2014
The mortal life of Norma Larsen Marziale Hillyard came to a close on May 6, 2014 at Springville, Utah. Norma was born July 21, 1923 in Mapleton, Utah, the first daughter of A. Reed Larsen and Jesse Wing. Norma married James Marziale on May 1, 1944 in Mapleton, Utah. She later married William Ira Hillyard on May 1, 1970 in Pocatello, Idaho.
Norma became the mother of 8 children. During those early family years she loved to sew clothes for the family as well as herself. She loved to cook, especially cookies. In Idaho she became known as the "cookie lady" as she would share fresh cookies with neighbors, ward members and even rest homes. As a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in various positions in the wards she lived in. She was Relief Society President and counselor but most of all she loved being the Primary President and blessing the lives of countless children. She loved her service in the Idaho Falls temple as an ordinance worker. Norma constantly deepened her understanding of the Gospel with its abundant truths and her love of the Lord Jesus Christ by her avid reading. She could be found late at night or early in the morning with eyes fastened to the pages of scripture or gospel oriented literature.
This great wife and mother is survived by six of her eight children. Sharon (Sheri) Beardall (Armel) of Ogden; James (Jimmy) Marziale (Carol) of Spanish Fork; Cinni Paxton of Springville; Jesse Marziale (Teresa) of Mesa, Arizona; Richard Marziale (Barbie) of Mesa, Arizona; and Kayleen (Kay) Blakeley of Springville. Also surviving are three step-children Christine Mehr (Paul) of St. George; Kevin Hillyard (Debbie) of Sandy and Eric Hillyard of Sandy; 36 Grandchildren; 75 Great Grandchildren and her sister Melba Jean Brinkerhoff of Murray. She was preceded in death by her two husbands and two daughters Darlene (PeeWee) White (Gary) and Charlene (Char) Lambson, one Grandson, her parents and four brothers.
Our mother has been cared for in the home of Cinni and was given tender and thoughtful care by Cinni, Kay, Ashley and Fran Dawson. She felt of their love!
