Nolan Raymond Stone is the blessing of faith and hope after excruciating loss. We hoped and prayed for Nolan for over a year and a half after losing his older brother. When we learned he would join our family, we decided that we would celebrate every moment of his life with joy, faith, and an absence of fear. We told our children of him immediately and celebrated our first Christmas with him inside my belly. He had Christmas presents under the tree and we were so excited for the gift of HIM! Nolan brought so much joy to our lives by just existing that our family started to see light and we began feeling true joy again. His older brother’s faith in God grew. His older sister’s confidence in herself grew because of him. His other older brother practiced sharing toys and painting the nursery just for Nolan. And we began feeling like the promised blessings of expanding our family would finally come true.
Nolan had beautiful blue eyes shaped like Tyler’s, the signature “M” shape on his upper lip like his older siblings, long legs, and the exact same arms as all of his siblings. We feel immense love for him and the gifts of hope and joy that he brought into our lives and for the knowledge that he will be our son and brother for now and all eternity. The impact of losing our sweet son will be deeply felt until we meet again. But until then, we will think of him every time we see the color sage green, or watch The Toy Story (his gender announcement). He’s the little pal we had hoped and dreamed of and our hearts ache immensely over the devastating loss of him.
Always and forever: we love you, our precious son.
