Nola Johnson Bird Titus our mother, sister, grandmother and friend passed away Sunday July 10, 2011. She is a rare and beautiful rose who will be missed dearly.
Nola was a compassionate and talented woman. She had a kind heart and touched many lives. She was a creative seamstress who could make anything out of a scrap of fabric, and made her home and others a beautiful place with her handiwork. Nola loved to bake, and was well known for her skills in the kitchen. She was a collector of many things, especially dolls. She enjoyed gardening and loved the outdoors.
Her family was her pride and joy. She had nine children, 40 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren, and seven great great grandchildren.
Nola married Edwin Lamar Bird November 15, 1944; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti temple. Together they had nine children: Stephen and Doralee Bird, Marie and Mahalo Lui (and the late Dennis Petersen), Birdena and Kevin Birch, Lynn and Colleen Bird, Kristene and Donald Romer, Cleon and Lynette Bird, Theressa and Jim Alvey, Clinton and Wendy Bird, and Chadley and Lisa Bird. She was preceded in death by her husband Lamar in 1997.
Nola married John Titus in 2004 and gained two step daughters: Kay and Bob Beal, and Cheryl and Larry Peterson. John preceded her in death in 2008.
Nola was born on August 29, 1926 to Parley Heber and Hulda Kristene Andersen Johnson, and was the eighth of twelve children. She is survived by her sisters Arlene Gull and Annie King, sisters in law: Marilyn Johnson and Hazel Johnson, and brother in law James Hathaway. She was preceded in death by her siblings: Eva Christopherson (Verl), Beulah Tanner (Lyle), Elmer Johnson (Vivian) Boyd Johnson (Melvina), Max Johnson (Madge), Ivan Johnson (LaRae), Kenneth Johnson (Peggy), Darlene Hathaway, and Robert Johnson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday July 16th in the Hobble Creek West Stake Chapel at 555 S 600 E Springville, UT at 11:00 am, with a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 am. A viewing will also be held Friday July 15th from 6 to 8pm at The Wheeler Mortuary 211 E 200 S Springville. Following the services, interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Springville.
