Naomi Pane’e, born Naomi Takamoto, in San Antonio, Texas on September 20, 1959 to Masaki and Masako Takamoto, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend. Known for her compassion, kindness and generosity, she was surrounded by loved ones as she passed peacefully on August 17, 2019 at Utah Valley Hospital at the age of 59. Leaving behind her an eternal legacy intertwined by service, love and an unwavering devotion to family, Naomi transformed neighbors into friends, and friends into family in both Utah and Hawaii. To her, time spent with family was time well spent.
She is survived by her husband, Eli Douglas, daughter, Sariah; son, Jordan; sisters, Janice, Sharon and Karen; brother, Richie; 8 grandchildren (Brayden, Tiani, Malakai, Mika, Eli, Keilani, Kiele and Amaya); and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She graduated in 1977 from Roosevelt High School in Honolulu, HI, and went on to a very successful career in private mortgage lending and with the USDA Rural Development helping hundreds of families achieve home ownership. She has served in multiple callings within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the president of the Relief Society, YW and Primary, along with cherished service as a visiting teacher.
