Nancy Cox McClellan passed away on Sunday, July 29th, 2012. She was born June 29th, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Her parents were Verne Thomas Cox and Juanita Amanda Spencer. Nancy grew up in Los Angeles California. She graduated from Mark Keppel High School where she was President of Toltec Service Club and a Flag girl. Nancy met her future husband, Boyd Ray McClellan while he was on his mission in Los Angeles California, as he taught her best friend the gospel. They were sealed in the Los Angeles temple on June 30, 1961. At the time of her death they had been married for 51 years.
Nancy was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She knew that she was a daughter of God. Nancy had a powerful testimony and love of the Savior and shared that love and knowledge with those she came in contact with. She enjoyed studying the scriptures and would spend many long hours immersed in them. She studied the teachings of the Savior and her favorite callings in the church were those that involved being a teacher. She was a woman of strength, kindness, love and charity. Nancy enjoyed writing and was the author of the book "To Thine Own Self Be True" and co-author of another book. She enjoyed her one on one time with her friends where she could have meaningful conversations and share and laugh together on a personal level. Most of all she loved her time with her family. She loved her grand- children, and the joy they brought her. She always wanted to know what was happening in everyone's lives and was happy for their successes.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and her younger brother Robert Dennis Cox. She is survived by her husband Boyd and her children Christine Dalton, Deborah Roberts, Lauri Rex, Michael McClellan, Becky McClellan, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and her brother, Thomas David Cox. She leaves behind a legacy that will not be forgotten and she will be deeply missed. We love you!
The family would like to thank Encompass Home Health & Hospice, especially Marie, Diana and Darla for their loving care and kindness to our mother and our family. A thank you to her dear friends and neighbors, Janet and Helen, for always watching out for her.
